Hello everyone! That's me!

Thanks for stopping by The Kitchenette. I hope you enjoy the food here, and that you check back frequently. In the meantime, I’ll try to explain why this page is here in the first place.

I’m currently residing at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I graduated college in May 2007. I’m obsessed with food. I like to read about food, I like to cook food, I like to buy food, I like to smell food. I love to cook, but I have a fear of baking (more on that later). I hope to one day either own a cafe or a catering company, but in the meantime, I’m happy to share my recipes with you. Why did I start a food blog? I subscribe to 23 food blogs in my Google reader, and I wanted to get in on the fun.

Some random facts:

I barely use cookbooks; I find most recipes online or in foodie magazines. I read Gourmet, Cooking Light, and Bon Appetit the most frequently, but I have been known to make the recipes I find in the free newsletter at the grocery store.

That said, I love to collect cookbooks. I have a growing list of, like, 12592873 cookbooks that I NEED TO OWN THIS VERY INSTANT, you know?

I spent the last 4 weeks in April counting down the seconds to the opening of the local farmers’ market, even though I knew the market would only have potatoes and asparagus.

I hate asparagus.

I plan on building a home at some point, and my kitchen will look similar to this. Which brings me to my next fact…

I have a total girl-crush on Martha Stewart. Everything she does is made of win, except for that tiny-stint-where-she-went-to-jail-for-lying-about-insider-trading-which-henceforth-shall-not-be-mentioned-again.

My current foodie goal is to learn to bake bread. I anticipate documenting many bread-baking adventures here, so check back often, you don’t want to miss out on the massive amounts of fail fun that are sure to ensue.

xoxo,

The Kitchenette
